operative system"?), KompoZer, Quanta

Although I don't consider
myself a hacker, I highly value the hacker
ethic, and I promote hacker values in and out the realm of
programming.
This does not mean I promote cracker values (breaking security,
creation of viruses, worms or trojans, or attacking other people
through cyberspace). True hackers value their knowledge of programming
in their best
creative
and clever
ways to benefit everyone. I promote programs created within
the
true spirit of hackerdom, such as the GNU/Linux operative system.
Here is an example of history of hacker
creativity. |

 | I'm a proud member of the National Center for Science Education, which struggles for teaching evolution as science in schools and colleges. All forms
of creationism and the so-called "intelligent design" are not
science. If you were one of those who were convinced by Ben
Stein's movie-documentary "Expelled", you can find decisive refutations
to his many claims in this NCSE supported website:

I am a proud member of Christians in Science. It is an organization of Christians who are concerned about the
relationship between Christianity and science. It is open to
scientists, teachers, students and everyone who is interested in this
kind of dialogue. Alister McGrath, author of Dawkins' God and The Dawkins Delusion?, is a member, among other scientists and thinkers.

I am an associate member of the American Scientific Affiliation, a fellowship of scientists who have a Christian faith in God and
Scripture, and who are committed to the truth being discovered in both,
the spiritual and the scientific realms. They favor integrity in
all matters pertaining science and faith.

I strongly support the efforts of The BioLogos Foundation
which seeks the search of harmony between spirituality and the truths
discovered by science. It was established by Dr. Francis Collins,
a long time defender of science against the intelligent design
movement. Barack Obama recently appointed him as Director of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland, and also appointed by Pope Benedict XVI to the Pontificial Academy of Science.

For
many of us who are religious, but reject creationism and intelligent
design as genuine science, and fully embrace evolution, I recommend the
book Thank God for Evolution
by Michael Dowd. It is supported by many skeptics, religious
groups, and even many philosophers and theologians. I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but it offers a
new perspective on evolution that does not deny God or
spirituality. I highly recommend this book. See also related websites such as: The Great Story, and Evolutionary Times. |
